I’m just a girl who loves bubbly and chocolate and wine and bread and and and… I can’t have any of it right now because I have Candida. This blog is dedicated to my love of food, but considering it doesn’t always love me back, all my recipes have been created around a Candida-friendly diet.
Food is delicious, sometimes you just need to have a little more imagination.
You can check out my previous blog here.
My food journey started when I thought I had allergies to a number of different foods, but a year ago, when I went to an Iridologist, it turned out that I actually had Candida, which was mimicking the symptoms of the food allergies.
So here I am, excitedly starting my new blog and looking forward to sharing my experiences, recipes and anything else that takes my fancy, with you.
If you’re on twitter, you can follow me @LeeBeeCT. My bio says: I’m on a journey – a big one! Of self discovery, food, passion, love, good times, memories and laughter. This is so true – I moved to Cape Town, from Joburg, in April 2011 and I can whole heartedly call this beautiful, eclectic, mesmerizing, captivating city my home. I am blessed to live here and I wake up every day with a smile on my face, thankful and full of anticipation, because the best is yet to come!
Wow, I am so amazed to read this. All those allergy prognosis and all wrong. Makes you wonder. I am in a way so happy for you that you now know for sure what the problem is. Love the site xox
Thanks Tandy, has been quite an interesting journey so far. It is great to finally know what the problem is! 🙂 And to be far less limited. Thank you for your kind words 🙂 xxx
Very interesting blog and very informative Lea, so very happy for you that you have discovered the reason for your problems and here’s wishing you renewed health, energy and happiness. Big love xx
I’m so pleased you came to take a little squiz here. And thank you so much for all of your lovely comments and support. It means so much to me. Lots of love xx
WOW! Was diagnosed with multiple level 3 and egg IGG, now I’m thinking I have candida! After curing your candida, were you able to eat milk and other allergens? I was a cooking instructor and had to quit due to my allergies! I am missing “real” food so much! Thanks for being “out” there! Looking forward how to kick this candida!
Hi Shelley, thanks for the visit 🙂 yes, I can eat some dairy, but not milk because of the lactose (which converts to sugar) there is a section in my blog that tells you about the candida diet. I highly recommend visiting an iridologist. He helped me and many other people I know. I hope this blog shows you that you can still eat awesome food, even if you have limitations. Good luck and please let me know if I can help with anything xx
You can help! My blood tests showed “allergies” to many foods…did you avoid those while on your candida diet or just take away the “candida” fuel?! Are you eating your level 3 allergens again after your diet? Thanks so much for your support! I’ll be looking for an iridologist here in Florida! 🙂
Hi, quick question, but how do you get tested to find out if you have candida? I am intrigued and want to find out for myself. Thanks and very interesting blog.
Hi Cazz, thank you 🙂 I’m not entirely sure how else to go about it, but the way I found out was by going to an Iridologist – he was able to see the Candida in my eye and he looked at my blood under a microscope. So probably a specific blood test as well.
Hi Lea, Iam the lady who cleans you out of chocolate brownies at The Range. I thought I would ask you to bring extra because my friend AND I want some brownies this friday. I would also like to try the Xylotil you use. I have found it to be a bit rough on my peuny anglo saxon digestive system. Maybe yours wont be as harsh? I will see you at The Range on friday?
Tania
Hi Tania, haha you make me laugh! Very resourceful way of getting in touch! 🙂 I will definitely bring extra for you and your friend – thanks! If you eat the brownies with no problem, then the xylitol I use will definitely be better for you – it’s pure and made from the bark of the birch tree. Other xylitols are made from corn and some manufacturers even add starch to it to bulk it out – that’s why I only trust mine! See you friday. In future you can get hold of me on leaine@sweetlikecandi.co.za / 0788028828. Have a great day, Lea xxx
